Does Joe Torre really make a difference in managing Dodgers?

Posted on October 12th, 2009 by admin

Or, he’s just lucky to have Manny on board?

Joe Torre is a great manager, but the key to the Dodger success this year is that they are in an extremely weak division and lucked out with their substandard record.

[ Q ] Do you think that Joe Torre is really that great of a Manager or is he just lucky to manage great teams?

Posted on October 8th, 2009 by admin

With the LA Dodgers making the playoffs, Joe Torre has his 14th straight playoff appearance. This ties the MLB record for a manager set by Bobby Cox of the Atlanta Braves. Is he that good or just lucky to manage great teams? Let me know what you think.

Good question and an interesting one as well. I would have to side with being more great than lucky. Yes, he was blessed with some great players however having great players doesn’t necessarily equate to great teams. It’s up to the manager to set everything in motion by using what he has to the max!

Let’s not forget too that Torre has to deal with one factor that no other manager had to face. That of course was the Steinbrenner factor! I give Torre a lot of credit for keeping his cool all those years. 10 division titles, 6 American League Pennants and 4 world championships. That takes much more than luck.

Torre is a future Hall of Famer to be sure.

How long before the Yankees hire Joe Torre back?

Posted on October 6th, 2009 by admin

I say mid-season when the team is in last place with Girardi or Mattingly as manager.

That won’t happen — simply because the Yankees were so disrespectful to Torre that at this point he wouldn’t go back even if they wanted him to.

I have long disliked the Yankees, but nonetheless recognized the fact that Torre was high-class all the way. He deserved much better than the way the Yankees treated him.

Should Torre get canned or is it the $200 million dollar underachievers that are to blame?

Posted on October 4th, 2009 by admin

The most talented team in baseball couldn’t make it past the first round again. Don’t see how that’s the managers fault.

If you’re a manager, one of your jobs is to get the best performances out of your players. Torre has failed to do that.

Do the Yankees Deserve What They Get (not making the playoffs) For Firing Joe Torre?

Posted on October 2nd, 2009 by admin

I mean you got to admit Joe Torre has class and players love to play for him.
yeah Danny a huge 1 year contract…wow that shows your loyalty to your coach.
Bandit too bad the Yankees didn’t come close to making the playoffs.

I admit, as the Yankees fan I am, I really think Joe Torre would have done way better than Joe Girardi, thats my opinion, and I always have been in favour of better pitching than better batting. If you see our pitching stats weren’t that good the ones who did better were Mike Mussina and Chien Ming Wang, Carl Pavano was injured and I dont think Sidney Ponson showed up his potential, if you want your team do good you should have 5 pitchers doing well, and until we dont get better pitchers we won’t win a World Series title soon, Brian Cashman should be looking already for better pitchers, I hope.

Maybe drinking wheatgrass and watching Manny’s dreads grow an inch a day ain’t so bad after all.

He is porbably laughing enjoying The Dodgers making it to the Post Season
